Pôle Hippique de Saint-Lô
Description
Manège du Grand hall : This is the place where all indoor equestrian competitions are held from October to February, the most significant being a 4*CSI, the Jumping International of Saint-Lô which has been running for over 20 years. It is the emblematic and historic indoor arena of the site able to hold 3,000 spectators. A panoramic restaurant is set up along one side of the ring. The lighting was completely updated in October 2020 by a company specialised in equestrian lighting, Proximal. It is linked to the indoor warm-up arena by a covered and secured bridle path and also to a specific pre-warm-up outdoor arena for flatwork and lunging. Carrière d’honneur dite Uriel : This large sized outdoor arena is named after a famous stallion, a foundation sire who stood at the Saint-Lô National Stud in the 70s and 80s. It has the distinctive characteristic of being hemmed in by steep sides thus giving horses clear limits within which to work. It is surrounded by two other arenas permitting plenty of space in which to prepare and warm-up. This is France’s most used arena for 4 to 7yo young horse show-jumping classes, even though during the summer it welcomes a 3*CSI during the very well known Normandy Horse Show which has been running for over 30 years.
