Description
The Patrick Caillaud stadium (Morbihan) is located in Ploërmel, an average town of 10,000 inhabitants located 15 minutes from the Brocéliande forest, 30 minutes from the Gulf of Morbihan and 45 minutes from Rennes Bretagne airport and easily accessible by expressways. Coming to Ploërmel means you can enjoy a temperate climate all year round, you have nature nearby while being peaceful for the athletes. Green countryside, towpath along the Nantes-Brest canal, permanent mountain biking and running circuits... So many magical and attractive places to train in a preserved natural environment. This high-level sports centre is located walking distance from the city center, the Lac au Duc and the local hospital, as well as 3 and 4 star accommodation. With a capacity of 600 seats in the stands and 1,900 seats around, the Ploërmel football stadium is a major asset for the city. Equipped with E3 lighting, irrigation sprinkler system and four 25 square metres changing rooms, this level 3 approved stadium is the ideal site for training or friendly matches between national teams.
Special features
Its perimeter which is completely closed to view, allows setting up training sessions behind closed doors. A team composed of three technicians, and having all the necessary equipment, is assigned to the grass management in order to allow the athletes to play in the best conditions and to respond to occasional staff request (tracing, watering, additional sports equipment).
Known for
Many famous professional football clubs have played on this quality ground for a match or a training camp: Lorient, Rennes, Nantes, Guingamp, Tunis (Tunisia), Laval, Madeira (Portugal), Brest, Istres. The stadium was selected as the base camp for the U20 Women's World Cup in 2018, where several national teams came to prepare for it: France, Germany, Haiti, the Netherlands and Spain.
